If you prefer your own accommodations, Bridgton offers a range of options to suit every preference and budget. Here are a few recommended options:
- Noble House Inn: A charming bed and breakfast located in the heart of Bridgton. Offers cozy rooms and a delightful breakfast.
- Highland Lake Resort: Situated by the serene Highland Lake, this resort offers scenic views, comfortable rooms, and recreational activities.
- Airbnb: There are numerous Airbnb listings in and around Bridgton, ranging from lakeside cabins to quaint cottages. If you'd really like an adventure, how about this yurt?
WEATHER TIPS:
- Dress in Layers: October in Maine can be unpredictable. While days might be mild, evenings can get chilly. We recommend dressing in layers.
- Outdoor Ceremony: Our wedding ceremony will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Please bring a light jacket or shawl.
- Footwear: Consider wearing comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to explore the area. Ladies tip: If you are wearing high heels during the ceremony, Jeannette strongly suggests "chunky" heels as opposed to thin ones, as they tend to sink easily into the grass / earth.
TRAVELING TIPS:
-
Airports: The closest major airport is Portland International Jetport (PWM). It's about an hour's drive to Bridgton.
-
Car Rentals: Several car rental agencies operate out of PWM. We recommend booking in advance.
-
Driving Directions: From PWM, take I-95 N and US-302 W

Visitors enjoy 27 miles of historic motor roads, 158 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of carriage roads.
- Bar Harbor - This is where our engagement weekend began! Highly recommended. Bar Harbor is a town on Mount Desert Island along Maine’s Frenchman Bay. It serves as a gateway to the mountains and cliffs of neighboring Acadia National Park. Towering over the park, Cadillac Mountain has trails and views of the town, the bay and the Cranberry Islands. Sand Beach is ringed by mountains. From the town pier, the Shore Path winds along the bay overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Porcupine Islands.
ADDITIONAL TIPS:
- Local Cuisine: Don't miss out on trying Maine's famous lobster rolls and blueberry pie.
- Time Zone: Maine is in the Eastern Time Zone. Adjust your watches accordingly!
- Stay Connected: While Bridgton offers a peaceful escape, most areas have good cell reception and Wi-Fi access.
- BEWARE of common Maine wilderness dangers including ticks, moose, and bears, oh my! Be aware of your surrounding when in nature. We highly recommend using insect repellent, carrying bear spray, and reading up carefully on common wilderness dangers before taking your adventures.
We can't wait to celebrate with you in Maine! If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out.
All our Love,
Brian & Jeannette
